SuperReal: Pop Art from the AGO Collection.
SuperReal, curated by Kenneth Brummel, the AGO's Assistant Curator of Modern Art, features eight paintings and sculptures by leading Pop artists including Andy Warhol, George Segal, Jim Dine, Robert Rauschenberg and James Rosenquist. A highlight of the exhibition, displayed in the Edmond G. Odette Gallery, is the return of Claes Oldenburg's famous "Floor Burger" (1962). This is the first showing of the Oldenburg work at the AGO since its extensive restoration work in 2013 by the AGO's conservation team. A selection of rarely seen works on paper by Pop artists is also exhibited in rotation in the adjoining Robert and Cheryl McEwen Gallery. http://bit.ly/1RawZgo.

Exhibition of work from Propeller member Art Lucs. "This most recent series has a common theme of Generative Art. This work is photo-based from hundreds to thousands of photographs taken daily from the same location or moving through space that are algorithmically processed to create an average. Like much of my work it deals with objective decision-making processes."

Paintings that explore the semi formed or deformed maquettes of the French sculptor Jean Baptiste Carpeaux, referenced from photos of a display of maquettes at Musée d'Orsay. The figures have been enlarged emphasizing the malformed shapes and transforming the interiors of the display cabinets into architectural interiors. The serigraphs are an exploration of the medium itself working with silk screening as a monoprint medium. Investigating traditional graphic applications as well as experimental textures leading to non-objective colour studies.

Diana Lynn VanderMeulen: ´*crystal, rest ... more
Diana Lynn VanderMeulen: ´*crystal, rest. Diana Lynn VanderMeulen's practice is fluid between collage, painting, sculptural installation, and digital media. For her solo exhibition, holographic and shimmering materials are used to transform an unlikely space into one of effeminate luxury. A hallucinatory sensation is created, similar to seeing a mirage in an unfamiliar landscape. Lingering in a purgatory between reality and illusion, ´*crystal, rest rejuvenates energy as the body becomes enveloped in a new world.
