The Elective Universe is an exhibition exploring 30 years of sculpture, painting and mixed-media works by Toronto-based artist and architect Morton Katz.
Artist's bio: Morton Katz, an international Toronto-based artist, is a former University of Toronto professor and architect. Katz's work is informed by his architectural background and an abiding investigation into process, colour and form. His creative passions, manifested in his works, are distinguished by the breadth of subject matters and mediums.
His public works can be found at the London School of Economics (London UK), the State Capital Cemetery (Lincoln, Nebraska), the University of Windsor, the University of Toronto, the Baycrest Centre Toronto, Harbord C.I. Toronto, the Art Gallery of Windsor.
His private works are in New York, Paris, San Francisco, Toronto, Detroit, Castle Rock (Colorado), Victoria B.C. and Hong Kong.
Morton Katz's works have been exhibited at the Canadian Embassy (Tokyo, Japan), the Art Dialogue Gallery (Buffalo, New York), and in Toronto at the SSC Gallery, First Canadian Place, the Koffler Gallery, the Hollander York Gallery, the Drabinsky Friedland Gallery, the John Black Aird Gallery, the Bau-Xi Gallery, and Metro Hall.
Presently, he is working on a large-scale sculpture project in the Ukraine.
