Son of the Shaman, an exclusive exhibition featuring select works by Norval Morrisseau, "the Picasso of the North", alongside his illustrious son Christian Morrisseau, is on display in a temporary pop-up gallery at 39 Parliament as well as the two main gallery spaces. The visual storytelling of these two renowned Woodland artists coincide with Canada's 150th anniversary. From Oct 27 to Nov 5 we will be presenting Sylvain Tremblay's newest series of 15 paintings, shown in conjunction with the launch of his latest book Sylvain Tremblay: Brooklyn, Beijing, Dubai, Montreal. On Sat 28 Oct at 2pm, the Thompson Landry Gallery will be screening the Toronto premiere of Tremblay's documentary, The Master Project: Leonardo da Vinci. This film follows the life of the famous Renaissance artist, from Italy to France, as Tremblay recreates several masterworks, such as The Last Supper and the Mona Lisa ... more

The artist's declared interest in the conception of Otherness, more specifically, other places, other times, other people, even other species, are all watched over with care and intimacy in her works. She achieves this timely presence of the Other by treating oil paint, a fluid medium, as the elemental force driving her atmospheric narratives ... more
